Enjoy the things I love, dislike the things that urk me, and learn everything I do.
So my roommate and I went to see Django Unchained this weekend. I am shocked to all the bad reviews of the film honestly. Black people can joke about slavery but white people can’t? I’m confused.
Quentin Tarantino is different. He always has been. The film was a love story. How far would you go for your love? In the end, Django had a goal from when he first met that guy until the end. How many people knew about slaves and marriage and black slavers? Even free slaves weren’t treated free in the south.
In the end who was standing? Who outsmarted everyone? You’re upset because the N word was used so much but your non- black friends who grew up with you can say it? Get out of here. Don’t be silly. It’s embarrassing that when we as a people need to get up and take a stand, it’s against this film. What about the black children getting murdered for no reason? All the women missing in Detroit? The girls still having babies and they’re still someone’s baby!? Get mad about that! When’s the last time you researched slavery?
At what point will we stop seeing color? All the white people were outsmarted! What more do you want? Tarantino is alright with me. The whole Rick Ross and Tupac playing was crazy at first but the lyrics, FIT. John Legend played as well but it’s okay?
People get it together. It’s a film. I learned bits that don’t get talked about. I LOVED it! It was awesome!
I am Anemic. During my cycle, it takes a toll on my body. These foods boost iron levels. Enjoy.

I never heard of this story. To think ten years ago, I was just a small freshman at Lewis Cass Technical High School in Detroit, MI. (WHOOP WHOOP!) Anyhoo, this guy, this man was charged with the kidnapping and rape of a girl when he was just 16. A heavily scouted football star at Long Beach Polytechnic High School, he lost all hopes and dreams of ever doing anything. Six years. Six years he was sentenced. At 17, he went to prison.
Banks denied anything happened between him and his accuser. No evidence of a rape was found on Wanetta Gibson’s body. Yet, Banks was still in prison for 6 years. He lost it all. Until, recently, Gibson was caught on tape, after Banks had been released, admitting that it was all a lie. She was willing to help him get his name cleared but she didn’t want to have to give back the $1.5 Million her family received after a lawsuit was filed against Long Beach Schools.
Um, you’re a criminal Wanetta! You should be treated as such. You have no idea the outcome of what could’ve happened if you and your family kept your mouths closed forever. Banks was forced to enroll into the National Sex Offenders registry and he had to wear a tether, after he was released early in 2007. Talk about sad.
Sad but an inspiration. Even though Brian Banks has every reason in the book to hate his life, hate this girl, the system, the judge, he doesn’t.
Banks still has dreams of playing in the NFL. This one, this case, I wouldn’t be against seeing HIS dreams come true!
